
Technological innovation and training, are the basic elements to configure the Knowledge Area of MONDRAGON.
In 2010 MONDRAGON spent € 144m in R+D+i, of which 16.8 millions went to the frame of Corporate plan Science and Technology, while the rest went to co-operatives, technological centres and Mondragon Unibertsitatea.
In 2010, the Industry area spent a budget of 7.72% over the value added in R+D, which was channelled through the R+D Departments of the co-operatives, activities of the, technological centres, corporate Technologies and Science plans and Garaia Innovation Centre. In this way, the Corporation as a whole owns 716 patents for invention.
Furthermore, it participates in 20 Zenith projects, 14 Etorgai and 42 international projects directly related to the Science and Technology Plans, of which 12 are led by companies and Corporate centres. On the other hand, 70 plan researchers have carried out doctoral theses about issues related to it.
Finally, 21.4% of sales in the Industry area in 2010 were products and new services that did not exist five years ago, this ratio has duplicated in five years, following the internationalization rhythm of our productive activities and services all around the world.
