
During the 2009-10 academic year, 402 students attended Txorierri Politeknika Ikastegia in formal education and 42 courses (2,557 hours) in vocational and continuing training were taught, attended by 404 people, mostly in employment. In this sense, it emphasized the organization and development of a total of 6 courses on the application of ICTs in the classroom, in which 108 teachers have attended over 30 training centres.
In the international area, 15 students undertook placements in European companies (Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, Italy and Lithuania). Also, two professors from the department of Commerce and Marketing conducted a six-day stay in Holland, where they had the opportunity to experience diverse educational activities at other centres that offer this specialty.
It has successfully conducted the first phase of the transfer of innovation projects in which participated the institutions: CATELAN (Cultural Awareness Training in vocational through E-Learning) and IOA2 (International Operation Agent II), projects funded by the Leonardo Da Vinci European Programme and the Basque Government (€120,097), and in which collaborated other European centres (Germany, Turkey, Estonia, Belgium, Holland, Finland and Lithuania).
In the area of entrepreneurial culture, the centre remains in the incubation stage (transfer of premises and equipment) to the company Ardolan, having participated in the implementation of 4 other self-employment projects for which it has the co-operation of various institutions like the Basque Government and the Worklan Association (of which it is a promoter).
As an entity within the Parekatuz network for gender equality (promoted by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia), the "Learn to Choose" programme has been defined, counting on the collaboration of the Txorierri Behargintza. Through this programme, students are offered the opportunity to stay in business under the gender perspective, with the recognition and financial support from the Basque Institute for Women (Emakunde).
Lea Artibai Ikastetxea obtained authorization from the Basque Government to initiate a new training course in formal education from September 2010 entitled "Energy efficiency and solar energy" that has been very successful.
The training course "Production Scheduling in mechanical engineering" has been adapted from LOGSE to LOE. 87% of students in vocational training has obtained a job matching their studies.
We have taken part in 5 projects TKNIKA obtaining succesful results.
We have carried out the diagnosis of needs in three companies for the first time. At the same time, we have organized training plans in several companies. We have worked in collaboration with some associations and companies in the sectors of energy and automobile. We have managed aids for company training which were undergoing ERE (Redundancy Plans). We have made our first steps to offer online courses.
In continuous and occupational training, we have provided 138 courses (11,769 hours) some of them from our own catalogue and others tailor-made aimed at active or unemployed personnel.
Regarding University offer, it is important to highlight that the official Masters "Plastic and Product design" has been started. Homologation process initiated in 2008-09 has proved fruitful obtaining this year the first homologations within the State system.
Lea Artibai Ikastetxea as a suppporting centre in LANBIDE which is the province of Lea Artibai obtained the homologation by the Basque Goverment Labour Department for two more orientation trainers. Through this service 123 job demands have been managed, 257 people have found a job and 1,333 people have been oriented in terms of finding a new job or change the one they already had.

The building of innovation town Berrikuntza Gunea was succesfully completed in July, placing it in the 3,682 m² covered by Foundation Azaro as well as Leartiker Materials and The Enterprise Incubator. During 2010 eleven new economic activities have been started in the province. Nine of them have taken a new Vat Number and two have taken diversification projects within companies, creating 33 new jobs.
Regarding technical services activities and research - internally known as Leartiker - 6 research projects have been carried out with companies, 4 scientific writings have been published, 20 new customers have been made and 14 product improvement solutions have also been carried out.
