Maier sets up a plant in the Czech Republic
Its location is strategic, as it is right in the middle of the main factories of the automotive industry in Eastern Europe, specifically in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland.
The company, called Maier Cz s.r.o., will have a 6,500 m2 factory building which will house production facilities and warehouses. The plans are for the production of parts to start in June 2006. The company will have a workforce of 200 within four years, and the plans are for a turnover of more than 15 million euros at the end of the four-year period.
On the technological side, it will initially incorporate injection and painting technologies, with plans for other technologies depending on customer requirements.
The Maier Group’s incursion into the Czech Republic is part of the Group’s internationalisation strategy, aimed at strengthening its presence in Europe and providing service to its main customers in their plants in Eastern Europe, like the PSA Group, , Renault, Volkswagen Group, Toyota, GM, Antolín Group, Plastic Onmium, Faurecia and Visteon. In this regard, the Maier Group already has significant orders for vehicles made by these manufacturers with PSA’s new 207 and the Renault Twingo.
With the new plant in the Czech Republic, the Maier Group now has six production plants: the main plant in Gernika, Maier Navarra in the Ultzama Valley, Maier Ferroplast close to Vigo, the two British plants Maier UK and Chromeco and the Czech plant in Prostejov. This year the Group hopes to post an overall turnover of 200 million euros, of which 60% will come from international sales.
