MCCGraphics to invest 15m euros in 2005

  • Date: Friday, November 19, 2004

MCCgraphics, the MCC’s graphic services division, plans to invest 15m euros in 2005, in order to improve its production capacity and culminate the technological renovation process started in 2000. The resources provided will be earmarked to consolidate the incorporation of the Evagraf Group, located in Vitoria-Gasteiz; to the acquisition of a second rotary press for Rotok (Rentería) and the installation of a large format machine (120x160) at Elkar (Loiu). The Investment Plan also contemplates reinforcing the application of the new technologies in its industrial processes, with the launch of the customer portal “Aurkinet” and the signing of an agreement with the international CREO Group, which will provide latest generation supports for preprinting processes.

MCCgraphics will end this year with a turnover of more than 20m euros, which is double the figure posted in 2000, thereby consolidating its position as the leading graphics group in the Basque Country and the leading commercial printer within a radius of 300 km, covering the north of Spain, including Aragon and Castilla y Leon, and the whole of southwest France. In Spain as a whole, MCCgraphics is among the ten leading groups with exclusively Spanish capital. After the incorporation of Evagraf, the workforce of the Group now totals 130 people.

This information was made public today during the conference entitled “The Future of the Printed Page in the Digital Era” held at the Kursaal Conference Centre in San Sebastian. The conference was attended by more than 150 customers and suppliers of the MCCgraphics Group, as well as representatives from the business and institutional world. Within this framework, a roundtable discussion took place with the participation of: Fernando Tapia (Member of the Regional Council of Gipuzkoa responsible for Institutional Relations), Juan Mª Uzkudun (the MCC’s Director of Innovation and Development), Imanol Cristóbal (the Vocento Group’s Director of New Technologies), Mónica Moso (Director of the Knowledge Cluster) and Moshe Blumenfeld (CREO’s Director of Sales Consultants). The speakers reflected on the effect of the new technologies on production processes and customer relations. For their part, the management of Mccgraphics presented their experience concerning the integration of technologies and services through the Aurkinet customer portal.

Aurkinet: an integrated customer service portal

The Aurkinet portal provides MCCgraphics’ customers with a customised service platform with the tools necessary to maintain constant control of the work entrusted. The following stand out among the features offered by Aurkinet, via the Internet: getting estimates, placing orders, control of the status of a specific job and centralised monitoring of the administrative aspect. The development of services via the Internet also includes the possibility of sending and receiving proofs via the Internet. The aim of the service platform is to limit physical flows as much as possible, until they only consist of sending the finished job to the address given by the customer.
