Fagor Electrodomésticos obtains the Prince Philip of Asturias Prize for Excellence in Internationalisation.
The Jury, made up of well-known independent figures, has valued “Fagor Electrodomésticos’ complete and balanced development strategy, its efforts to set up abroad, its wide-ranging presence in other countries in both industrial and commercial terms, the efforts made in technological development to incorporate value added to make its traditional products stand out and the development of new business areas with a greater technological content".
Likewise, in the “Competitiveness for Large Companies” area, the Jury decided to give Fagor Electrodomésticos a special mention for its "high level of involvement in the internationalisation of the company and the introduction of its brand, at both the national and international levels, as a result of the company’s continuous research and technological development work and its effective human resource policy".
Continuing in the same vein, the company was also selected as one of the firms nominated for the “Renowned Brand Management Prize”. This makes Fagor Electrodomésticos the only company in this edition of the Prince Philip of Asturias Prizes to have received an award, a special mention and a nomination.
In the Prince Philip of Asturias Prize for Internationalisation, Fagor Electrodomésticos was competing with another five companies, including Ficosa, Simón S.A. and Laboratorios Indas. In 2002, Fagor Electrodomésticos recorded international sales totalling 397 million euros. This accounted for 44% of total turnover, which amounted to 902 million euros. Its aim is now to achieve 50% of its sales abroad.
