Copreci sets up a plant in Turkey

  • Date: Wednesday, October 08, 2003

Copreci Turkey, a company owned 100% by Copreci Soc. Coop., will be located in Gebze, close to Istanbul, and will start to operate in December 2003. The initial cost of the project will be in excess of 2.5 million euros and the forecast for the initial annual turnover is 4 million euros. The company will supply the Turkish plants of a number of Copreci´s main world customers and serve as a platform to promote sales to new customers in that part of the world.

Copreci, part of the MCC’s Components Division, has all the leading domestic appliance manufacturers among its customers. The company has a turnover of 150 million euros, international sales that account for 75% of total sales and production plants in Aretxabaleta, Mexico (Copreci Mexico), Czech Republic (Copreci Cz), Brazil (Copreci do Brasil) and Italy (Copreci Systems). In 2001 the company was awarded the Gold Q for Management Quality, after achieving more than 500 points in an EFQM assessment.

Copreci’s Strategic Plan revolves around Internationalisation and Innovation, with important challenges in both of these areas. In terms of Innovation, it is worth highlighting that 15% of the sales forecast by the Copreci Group for 2003 are for products that have been on the market for less than two years. As far as Internationalisation is concerned, 2004 will see the completion of the company’s next plant abroad, which will be located in China.

In order to carry out this internationalisation strategy, Copreci has had to make significant organisational changes, turning itself into a global organisation in order to place itself in an excellent position in comparison with its local and global competitors.
