  • Date: Tuesday, May 20, 2003

Newall, set up in 1900 and located in Peterborough, has been a well-known manufacturer of grinding machines since 1945, both in the car industry and the aeronautical sector. The company has production facilities occupying 7,500 m2, a workforce of 25 people and last year posted a turnover of 12 million euros.

In the car industry, Newall has customers like Ford, Peugeot and MG Rover. Since 1978, the company has also been operating in the aeronautical sector, developing solutions for grinding parts, mainly blades and undercarriage parts, for companies like Rolls-Royce, GE, Pratt & Witney, American Airlines, Boeing, etc.

With this takeover, in addition to taking an important step forward in its internationalisation strategy, by setting up in a demanding market like the UK market, Danobat will strengthen its leadership position in the aerospace industry.

Also with this takeover, the Danobat Group will complete a wide range of solutions in the aerospace, automotive and capital goods sectors, by being able to improve the quality of customer service in the important UK market, with the backing of engineers and sales people located in the United Kingdom.

The Danobat Group, which employs 806 people, is the leading company in the machine tool sector in Spain. It consists of Danobat, Estarta, Goiti, Lealde, Soraluce and D+S Sistemas together with the Ideko Research Centre, exclusively dedicated to machine tools. In 2002 the Group posted a turnover of 142 million euros with exports accounting for more than 75%.

Likewise, the Danobat Group is also present in Germany, the leading machine tool market in Europe, with two subsidiary companies specialising in grinding (Overbeck) and milling (Bimatec). The Group also has offices in United States France, Italy, China, Brazil, United Kingdom and Japan.
