MATZ-ERREKA is set up in Mexico

  • Date: Monday, November 05, 2001

The Matz-Erreka Cooperative, with its headquarters in the town of Antzuola in Guipúzcoa, will next month start manufacturing injection moulded precision plastics in its new Mexican plant in Querétaro. This plant will trade under the name Erreka Mex and have a surface area of 1,000 m2. The project is going to entail an investment of close to 200 million pesetas, with a gradual increase in staff of up to 30 people being envisaged by the year 2003.

In  its first phase, it will be devoted to the supply of parts for the plant owned by the Copreci Cooperative in Guadalajara, where barbecue and cooker taps, gas thermostats and electric pumps are manufactured, most of the production of which is destined for the United States market. Later on, Erreka Mex envisages expanding its production to the automobile market, as it already does in its head office in Antzuola.

In the last financial year, Matz-Erreka recorded a turnover of 4,100 million pesetas, and for this year envisages a business turnover of 4,500 million.
