The Basque Prime Minister, Juan José Ibarretxe, today presented Fagor Electrodomésticos' Cooking Appliance Plant with the Gold Q for Quality Management, after the plant achieved more than 500 points in accordance with the EFQM model. This award is given by the Basque Foundation for Quality, Euskalit, and is the prelude to opting for the European Prize for Business Excellence.

The award was received by the Managing Director of the Cooking Appliance Unit, Belen Kortabarria, who dedicated the prize to all workers n the plant. Ms Kortabarria pointed out that the sales of the unit "had increased by 124% over the six years in which it has been engaged in this programme, enabling us to become market leaders in Spain, Portugal, Poland and the Czech Republic".

Together with the Basque Prime Minister, the ceremony was presided over by the President of the General Council of MCC, Jesus Catania; the Vice-president of the Household Division, Fernando Gómez-Acedo and the President and Managing Director of Fagor Electrodomesticos, Javier Gantxegi and Pablo Mongelos.
