VIAJES EROSKI obtains the Tourist Quality Q
The Viajes Eroski Travel Agency has obtained the Q for Tourist Quality awarded by the Spanish Tourist Quality Institute (ICTE). The awards ceremony was presided over by Juan José Güemes, General Secretary for Tourism. This was the first time this award was given in the Travel Agency sector in Spain.
Viajes Eroski was the only prize-winning agency that operates practically all over Spain. Viajes Eroski has obtained the Tourist Quality Q in all the areas making up its day-to-day activities. This recognition has been given by the ICTE after an audit of all the company’s work and customer service processes.
Viajes Eroski has developed its quality policy based on the idea of maximum satisfaction for travellers, which is divided into five areas. All of them are important management instruments to ensure that customers are satisfied with the tourist product and service contracted: own brochures and products with Viajes Eroski quality; solid information and conscientious, loyal service in its travel agency branches; assistance from the agency during the actual holiday or trip; efficient response from branches concerning holidays once these are over and a commitment to the community, this being a value inherited from the Eroski Group’s mission.
Viajes Eroski, continuing with its policy of growth, has opened 39 new branches all over Spain so far this year. These new branches are distributed all over Spain in order to cover the Spanish tourist market. In addition to this, a lot of money has been invested in the last few months in developing information technology processes, job creation, and commercial communication plans, as well as the launch of Travel Air, the new business division of Viajes Eroski, during the first half of the year. With this launch, it is the aim of Viajes Eroski to strengthen its business division, by becoming a specialist in business trips. To this end, the company now has ten centres located in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Bilbao, Vitoria, San Sebastian, etc. with the aim of doubling the number of centres next year, all backed by almost 150 holiday offices.
The chain of travel agency branches is distributed over thirteen autonomous communities in Spain. The company now has a total of 144 branches in Andalucia (5), Aragon (6), Asturias (2), Balearic Islands (1), Cantabria (4), Castilla La Mancha (2), Castilla Leon (7), Galicia (5), La Rioja (3), Madrid (14), Navarra (8), Basque Country (68), Catalonia (11) and Valencia (7), as well as a virtual branch.
With the opening of the Internet branch any traveller can make a reservation via this new channel, which also offers an exclusive range of holidays - tours that have been designed and contracted directly by Viajes Eroski. The virtual branch can be accessed via the Eroski Group web site (www.eroski.es) or direct: www.viajes.eroski.es.
Viajes Eroski has established an outstanding strategy for growth that will take the company to new provincial capitals and autonomous communities in Spain. Over the last five years, more than 600 million pesetas have been invested in information technology and the opening of 77 new branches. Viajes Eroski posted a turnover of 17,000 million pesetas in 2000.
