Fagor Ederlan to open a production plant in China
The cooperative Fagor Ederlan, which manufactures automotive sector components, is set to open a new factory in China next year.
The plant will be located on the industrial estate owned by MONDRAGON in Kunshan near Shanghai and has required investment of 30 million euros.
Construction work on the new plant has already begun - the project is run by LKS Ingeniería – and it is expected to begin operating in 2012 with manufacture of fully machined aluminium knuckles. The expansion plan for the plant’s activity will include later development of machining for other products such as iron knuckles and brake discs in 2013 or 2014, and it is expected to produce more than two million knuckles, mainly aluminium, and half a million brake discs.

When the new factory is running at full capacity it will provide employment for around 100 people.
Fagor Ederlan consolidates its position as a global supplier with this new plant, which brings its production establishments to a total of 16, in addition to the alliances already developed in the USA or Korea.
Lastly, the Fagor Ederlan Group ended the financial year 2010 with sales of 684 million euros and a staff of 3,500.
