CIKAUTXO starts production in China

  • Date: Friday, July 08, 2011

Cikautxo will be starting production in China in July. The Bizkaia-based co-operative, which develops and manufactures polymer parts and assemblies for different applications, will begin operating in the new production plant that the company has opened on the MONDRAGON Corporation’s industrial estate in Kunshan, close to Shanghai. It has cost €7m to start up this new international project.

Internationalisation
With the opening of this new plant in China, Cikautxo aims to meet the globalisation requirements of the automotive and domestic appliance markets, for which most of its production is destined. In this way, Cikautxo is consolidating its international presence with production plants operating in markets like the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Brazil and now China.

Cikautxo China will initially have 6 injection machines to manufacture rubber parts for customers in the Chinese market. The plans are for the workforce to total 45 people before the end of the year and turnover to account for €1.2m.

40th anniversary
Finally, its worth highlighting that Cikautxo, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, posted a total turnover of €153m in 2010 with international sales accounting for €134m, which is 87.5%. This year, the forecasts are for a 7% increase in sales compared to last year.
