  • Date: Saturday, December 03, 2011

MONDRAGON HeadquartersTaking as a reference the Eustat data for the Basque economy as a whole in 2010, the value added by the MONDRAGON Corporation to the Basque Autonomous Community’s total Gross Domestic Product for that year was 3.1%, with the figure rising to 7.4% in the industrial area.

This means that for every €32 of wealth generated in 2010 in the Basque Autonomous Community as a whole, €1 came from activities carried out by MONDRAGON, with the proportion being 14 to 1 if the comparison is limited to the industrial sector.
It is also worth highlighting that of the €2.04bn of value added generated by MONDRAGON in the Basque Autonomous Community and Navarra, €1.3bn were earmarked for Personnel Costs, directly benefitting the household economies of members and workers of the co-operatives and associated companies, with beneficial effects on spending and saving in both autonomous communities.

As far as industrial investment is concerned, taking as a reference the latest edition of the “Industrial Survey” carried out by Eustat, for 2009, the €208m invested that year by the Corporation’s industrial area accounted for 11.8% of total industrial investment carried out in the Basque Autonomous Community. In the province of Gipuzkoa, this percentage was 29.3% of total industrial investment in the region in 2009.
